Koruncuk Villages
In Koruncuk Villages, Towards the Future, With Love and Trust…
The lack of child protection policies, population growth, and income inequality are factors that cause children to be deprived of their rights and prevent them from fully realizing their potential in society. Keeping children in formal education until the age of 18, the period during which they are legally considered "children," is one of the most important mechanisms in protecting them from external factors. When a child attends school, they are significantly less likely to face risks such as child labor, child marriage, or involvement in crime.
What does the Koruncuk Foundation do?
The Koruncuk Foundation provides equal opportunities in education for middle and high school girls with limited access to resources by offering them a safe living environment in Koruncuk Villages. It allows them to access education and prepare for life in a warm family atmosphere. In addition to providing care and accommodation services without requiring academic success, the Koruncuk Foundation also provides all the necessary resources for the personal, psychological, and social development of these children free of charge throughout their education.
Koruncukköy centers in Istanbul and Izmir operate as private student dormitories with the permission of the Ministry of National Education. Koruncukköy Bolluca, established in Istanbul in 1992, and Koruncukköy Urla, opened in Izmir in 2019, provide accommodation and care for girls at the high school and middle school levels respectively, ensuring their right to education.
The Koruncuk Foundation, which works to improve the education and quality of life of children, supports their healthy social and psychological development, as well as providing guidance and career counseling. Children in Koruncuk villages are provided with regular contact with their families and opportunities to visit them during holidays. Outside of school hours, they participate in social activities aimed at their personal development. The Koruncuk Foundation continues to support girls who have lived in Koruncuk villages but have reached the age of 18, assisting them with their university education and professional development.
