With a grant launched by the Sabancı Foundation on October 11, World Girls' Day, the "Continuing Education and Empowerment of Girls Affected by Earthquakes" project has been initiated.
This 15-month project, conducted in collaboration with the Sabancı Foundation and the Hatay Provincial/District National Education Directorates, was designed to respond to the needs arising from the significant decline in access to education and the deepening of gender inequality in Hatay following the earthquakes of February 6, 2023.

We are growing stronger through solidarity in Hatay.
The loss of living spaces, economic difficulties, and weakening of social support mechanisms following the earthquake have increased the risk of girls dropping out of education. In this context, our project was initiated to support 29 girls in the 7th grade to continue their education; our efforts continue to ensure that our students continue their education without interruption as they transition to the 8th grade. Our project aims to support our students not only during a specific academic period but throughout their educational lives; it seeks to support their continued education through a long-term and sustainable approach.
While efforts are made to increase family participation and awareness in education, activities are also carried out to strengthen the social and personal development of girls. In this context, we organize face-to-face psychosocial support trainings in Hatay, providing support tailored to the needs of children and families, and supporting students in getting to know themselves, discovering their potential, and continuing their educational journey more strongly.
