Attorney Dr. Figen Samuray
Dear Friends of Koruncuk,
Since the very first day we started as the Koruncuk Foundation, we have been working to defend children's right to education and to offer them a secure future. This valuable step taken by our founder, Hüseyin Bilgin, in 1979 continues to be a source of hope for girls in our two Koruncuk Villages today.
Over the years, our Foundation, shaped by sensitivity to societal needs, has continuously renewed itself and focused on producing solutions that benefit children. Recently, we transformed our system to eliminate the economic and social barriers that prevent girls from attending school. Without considering academic success as a prerequisite, we have pioneered many initiatives in the field of civil society with our model that provides housing, education, and psychosocial support to girls at risk from middle school to university. We have strengthened the educational journeys of our girls who have been accepted to university through scholarships and developmental support.
Through our Family Support Unit, established in response to the needs we encounter in the field, we ensure that girls who are eligible for support within their families remain in formal education, while also contributing to the development of their families. Because we know that a girl's deprivation of education is not only an individual loss but also a societal disaster. An educated woman has the power to transform not only her own life but also the social, economic, and cultural structure of her community. Therefore, touching the life of a girl is the most powerful investment in the future of the entire society.
With this understanding, we work to create an environment where girls are supported in realizing their dreams and have a say in their decisions; we continue to improve our dormitory capacities and services to enable more girls to access opportunities.
With the belief that we can build a brighter future together, we continue our journey in solidarity.
